Our Revenue Model, in Plain Terms
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you sign up for a builder through one, we may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you. That's how a chunk of the testing and writing on this site gets funded, and we'd rather state that plainly than bury it in legal boilerplate nobody reads.
The Line We Won't Cross
A builder paying us a commission does not get a higher score, a better ranking slot, or softer language in its review. Every builder is scored against the exact same Methodology regardless of what, if any, commercial relationship exists. If that sounds like something every site claims, here's the mechanism that actually enforces it: testing and scoring happen completely separately from whatever affiliate arrangement does or doesn't exist for a given builder.
Testing Always Comes Before the Deal
We decide what to cover and how to score it before checking whether there's money to be made from the recommendation. A builder with no affiliate program at all gets exactly the same depth of testing as one that pays a generous commission — several on this site carry no commercial relationship to us whatsoever, scored identically to ones that do.
How We Keep Bias Out of the Room
The people writing and scoring reviews don't see which affiliate deals bring in the most revenue, and nobody's pay is tied to how a review performs commercially. That separation exists on purpose: it removes the personal incentive to nudge a score upward for a builder that happens to pay well. If a partner platform's actual quality dropped after a deal started, we'd lower the score and say so.
What You Will Never See Here
We don't accept payment for a guaranteed positive review, a specific score, or a spot on a ranked list. We don't let a builder preview or approve review copy before it goes live. And we don't soften or bury a real weakness — a rigid template system, a confusing editor, aggressive upselling — just because the platform pays us a commission. If a review ever reads like it was written by the platform's own marketing team, that's a mistake worth reporting, not an accepted trade-off.
If We Ever Ran Sponsored Content
We don't currently run sponsored posts or paid placements — every article, review, and comparison on this site exists because we chose to write it, not because someone paid for it to appear. If that ever changes, sponsored material would be labeled clearly as such and kept entirely separate from our tested, scored content.
Keeping This Page Honest
We'll update this disclosure any time our funding model or editorial process actually changes, rather than letting it drift out of date while the site evolves underneath it. What you're reading reflects how things work as of the site's most recent content update.
Something Doesn't Add Up?
If anything on this page seems inconsistent with what you're seeing elsewhere on the site, tell us through our Contact page. We'd genuinely rather hear about the inconsistency and fix it than have it sit there unnoticed.
How This Compares to Sites That Don't Disclose Anything
Plenty of website-builder comparison sites exist purely as affiliate funnels with no real testing behind them — a ranking that happens to put the highest-commission builder first isn't a coincidence in those cases, it's the entire business model. We'd rather be transparent about running on affiliate revenue while still proving, through a public methodology and named reviewers, that the revenue model and the ranking are kept apart.
